For Adobe Lightroom 4 and 5 (and Aperture and iPhoto) you need to first install the free Fusion Express 2 software as an external editing software to host the plugin. For Adobe Photoshop, once installed, the plugin is available through the ‘Filter’ menu. Topaz DeNoise 5.1, like the other Topaz Labs products can be used as a plugin for certain image processing applications or stand-alone through the Topaz Labs photoFXlab product ($79.99 at time of writing). Essentially, presets are in a panel to the left, the preview panel appears in the middle, and the tools for fine adjustments or manual control sit in a dock on the right. Topaz DeNoise 5.1.0 brings changes in the user interface but it’s immediately usable for users of the prior version while the UI re-design brings a more common feel to the recent releases of other products in the Topaz plugin lineup. ![]() If you already have Topaz DeNoise 5.0.1 you can download the new version from the TopazLabs website and it will install over the version 5.0.1. At the time of writing, the current version is Topaz DeNoise 5.1.0. Topaz DeNoise 5.1 UpgradeĬuriously, I previously had Topaz DeNoise 5.0.1 and whenever I would look for an upgrade it would tell me that I was on the latest version but that was not the case. Because of the simple interface, the plugin I usually reach for is Topaz DeNoise 5.1. With ISO in the range 1600 – 6400 I’ll usually look to manage the noise within Lightroom but often for ISO above 6400 I’ll reach for a plugin. Currently, I mostly shoot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III which has really good noise management built in but the noise is clearly visible when shooting above ISO 3200 (and, depending on the shot, at ISO 1600 also). ![]() The obvious way to reduce noise in your images is to use the lowest ISO setting available on your camera but sometimes you just can’t make the trade-off in shutter speed and/or aperture and you need to raise the ISO in order to get the shot. for example, in my testing, denoise 5 took around five seconds to load a single frame of an 11mp file from my canon eos r camera, whereas the standalone dxo photolab only needed around two seconds.Although newer cameras are getting ever more impressive image quality at high ISO levels, there still comes a time where the noise level is just too much and you need to do something about it. the only other thing to keep in mind when working with denoise 5 is that it doesn't have the same frame rates as the standalone dxo photolab. it doesn't perform quite as well as dxo in my tests with a variety of individual camera models, and even though i like the new dual-directional debanding technology that topaz labs has introduced, i'd rather have seen a little more control over its debanding parameters. That doesn't mean that denoise 5 is perfect. i suspect that denoise 5 may not be quite so robust in its control of noise and noise reduction when it comes to images shot with those modern, high-iso cameras, but even so, there's no question that this is an impressive software update for a company that was founded just three years ago. while it's a testament to the power of ai when a company like topaz labs can get so much out of the software it sells, it's also a stark reminder that our own application of ai isn't quite there yet. While we're at it, the company clearly cares about the quality of its products as well. you can find this software at the official website of topaz labs. ![]() this is a software that will help you to remove the noise from the video.
